Drawing to Animation

Upload a photo of a drawing and watch it move in a minute or two. Every crayon line stays where it was drawn, so the animation still looks like your child made it.

Example

A crayon family drawing, and the eight-second animation made from it.

How to animate a drawing in three steps

No drawing app, no prompt and no settings. A photo of the paper is all the tool needs; the AI works out what each character is and how it should move.

Snap a photo of the drawing

  • Any paper

Crayon, marker, pencil, watercolor or a homework page. A phone photo taken straight from above in daylight works best.

  • Crop close

Leave out the table and your hand, so the drawing fills the photo and nothing else moves on screen.

  • More than one character

Families, pets and party scenes all work; there is no need to draw one figure with its arms away from its body.

It fits into the frame

  • Landscape or portrait

The tool picks a frame from the shape of the drawing and fills the space around it with matching paper.

  • Adjust if you like

Drag, zoom or rotate the drawing inside the frame. Most drawings need nothing; the whole frame is what moves.

  • Nothing to write

There is no prompt box. The AI reads the drawing and gives each person, animal and object a motion that suits it.

Watch it move, then share

  • Eight seconds

Each animation is an eight-second clip, usually ready in a minute or two. You can leave the page open while it works.

  • Still their drawing

Wobbly lines, crayon texture and the paper itself stay as they were, so it still looks hand-made.

  • Download and send

Save the clip to send to grandparents, add to a class slideshow or keep with the original drawing.

How AI turns a drawing into an animation

Animation

What the AI does with a drawing, what helps it come out well, and where it can still get things wrong.

It treats your photo as the first frame, works out which shapes are characters, animals or objects, and gives each a motion that fits: a wave, a hop, a flapping cape, a candle flame.

Drawing to animation FAQs

Answers to what people ask before they animate a drawing: how it works, what it costs, which drawings work and what happens to the pictures you upload.

Take a photo of the drawing, upload it here and press Animate my drawing. The drawing is fitted into a landscape or portrait frame for you, the AI works out what each part of the picture is, and in a minute or two you get an eight-second animation to watch and download.
